“Addiction is often, if not usually, a response to trauma." – Dr. Andrew Tatarsky
In this free webinar we will introduce the practice of Chairwork and Parts Work with brief history and general clinical guidelines. We will then discuss the unique application of Chairwork when working with unresolved traumatic memories. Following that, we will show how Polarity Dialogues can be used to engage with ambivalence and increase the motivation to change. A live, unrehearsed clinical demonstration and a group discussion will be included.
Chairwork, with its roots in Psychodrama and Gestalt Therapy, is currently undergoing a world-wide renaissance. We believe Chairwork can be an important method of healing and change for those working in Behavioral Health. In this free, two-hour CE webinar, Amanda Garcia Torres, LMHC, will introduce clinicians to the use of Repetitive, Third-Person Storytelling as a method for engaging with and integrating traumatic and disturbing memories that are still haunting the patient.
In turn, Scott Kellogg, PhD, will show how Polarity Dialogues can be used to engage with ambivalence and increase the motivation to change. The webinar will include brief didactic presentations and unrehearsed, live clinical demonstrations with volunteer participants.
